John Groom is a Trade Mark Attorney with more than 30 years' experience of advising companies in respect of their brands. John joined Trade Mark Owners Association (now HallMark IP Limited) in 1973, was appointed Assistant Manager in 1984 and Senior Manager in 1986. John has represented numerous blue chip companies and has in-depth experience of developing strategies for the protection and brand extension of many household brands worldwide.

John is a Fellow and past President of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) and has represented the Institute at several World Intellectual Property Organisation congresses. He has been ITMA's representative of the United Kingdom Standing Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property concerning issues arising out of the UK Trade Marks Act 1994, the Community Trade Mark Regulations and the Madrid Protocol for the International Registration of Trade Marks.

John was the co-author of ITMA's book "A Practical Guide to the UK Trade Marks Act 1994". He regularly lectures on trade marks and is a specialist tutor at Queen Mary-Westerfield College.

Ian Wilkes is a Registered Trade Mark Attorney and a Fellow of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA).

Ian has more than sixteen years' experience in the field of trade marks. He entered the profession in April 1987 as an Examiner at the UK Trade Marks Registry. In 1990 he joined Trade Mark Owners Association (now HallMark IP Ltd) as a trainee Trade Mark Attorney and completed his qualification in 1994.

In 1997 Ian joined the firm of RGC Jenkins & Co. where he became a partner in January 2002. Since 1999, Ian has set and marked examinations of the Joint Examination Board of ITMA.

Trevor Wright joined Trade Mark Owners Association (now HallMark IP Ltd) in 1980 and has 24 years' experience of providing trade mark related services. Trevor has an in-depth knowledge relating to searching, registration and renewal of trade marks, recordal of assignments, licenses etc. and is a former Trade Marks Manager of HallMark IP Ltd.

Trevor has represented numerous blue chip companies for which he had responsibility for maintenance of existing trade mark portfolios and advising in relation to the availability and registration of new marks.

Tom Albertini is a registered trade mark attorney and Member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.

Tom has over 10 years' experience within the field of Trade Marks & Designs. Tom joined the Kensington based Patent & Trade Mark firm Baron & Warren in 1995, working first in Patent & Trade Mark formalities, before becoming a trainee Trade Mark Attorney in 1996. Tom qualified as a Trade Mark Attorney in 2000, and after some time spent traveling joined the London Patent & Trade Mark firm RGC Jenkins & Co. In 2003 Tom joined the brands group of the major law firm Simmons & Simmons. Tom has extensive experience of handling trade mark and design matters on behalf of both small companies and multinational corporations.

Tom has lectured students taking the Trade Mark Institute final examinations for a number of years, and was an Examiner in 2005.

Carrie Clarke is a Registered Trade Mark Attorney and a Member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.

Carrie has seven years' experience in the field of trade marks. On leaving university, Carrie joined the London firm Ablett & Stebbing, where she trained both as a trade mark attorney and as a patent attorney specialising in chemical and pharmaceutical inventions, qualifying in both disciplines in 2006.

Carrie advises clients in relation to various aspects of trade mark protection, enforcement and exploitation, and has particular experience in trade mark clearance searching, prosecution of trade mark applications worldwide, and portfolio maintenance.

Sarah Smith has over 10 years’ experience working in the legal field. In 2005, she successfully completed the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys’ Formalities Course.

In addition to her administrative experience, Sarah has an extensive knowledge of information technology including web design and was responsible for designing and building this website.

Sarah is responsible for domain names management and the maintenance and administration of the firm’s IT.

Jo Parry is a PA/secretary with over 12 years’ experience working at a senior level.

Jo has an extensive knowledge of office procedures and practices and in her previous role gained experience in dealing with trade mark portfolios from an in-house perspective.

Jo is responsible for the administration of the firm’s accounting as well as overall administrative support.
